How to actually choose — a checklist
Ranking aside, most fire door disputes come down to paperwork and fit, not brand. Before you sign anything:
- Match the fire rating to your NBC requirement and the fire consultant’s drawing — 60, 90, 120 or 180 minutes. Do not let a supplier decide this for you.
- Ask for the test certificate and the ISI licence number, and check the certificate covers the exact door construction you are buying.
- Confirm the frame, hardware, closer and vision panel are all part of the certified assembly. A certified leaf in an uncertified frame is not a certified door.
- Get the fire NOC documentation pack in writing before delivery, not after.
- Check who installs it. A correctly manufactured door fitted with the wrong gap tolerance will fail inspection.
